Save the polar bears in our little ways

Its saddening to hear about the plight of polar bears, how a degree rise in temperature affects the timely seasonal change in the North Pole. As polar bears rely much on the ice for hunting their favourite seals, a few degrees' rise in temperature will quicken the melting process which in turn leads to numerous cracks in the artic ocean in March or Feb when it was intended to be April or May. They are not territorial and they can travel hundreds of miles just to hunt for a single meal, sometimes even go hungry for months during the summer period. Polar bears rely on their fat reserves to survive through the summer and autumn seasons where ice is scarce and going at this rate, 2/3 of the bears will go extinct by 2030 as ice that are not meant to be melted all year round are decreasing every yr. This spells doom for polars which slp and rest on ice amidst the hotter seasons where the artic has completely melted. With no ice, they may just starve to death, and with winter approaching that soon, they would not have enough fat reserves to last them throughout the year. It's rare to see mother polar bears with cubs nowadays as they are malnourished to produce even 2 cubs which was considered normal in those days. Its estimated that by 2050 wild polar bears will go extinct, its really heartbreaking that something like this will happen in our generation. All due to consumption and more CONSUMPTION and climate change.

I'm doing all I can to produce less waste, save electricity and perhaps go organic? :/ There's more side effects to climate change than that, many other creatures like the xun lu (no idea its english term, perhaps reindeer) have to cope in terms of migration paths etc, and the grassy lands surrounding the north pole will soon be arid deserts. Its hard to explain just by watching the documentary but I'll certainly read more into it when I have the time.

Here's appealing to the humane side of everyone to be responsible for our little actions, however insignificant it may be. Perhaps it might just save a lil of our conscience when the extinction occurs in time to come.

NOVA has many educational videos, its a site i just chanced upon! :D The Lost Empires about Inca and the Romans are my fav, how i miss Italy :(
